ChristianEducation

We use our education program to meet the instructional training needs of the congregation by providing leadership in adult education, Sunday school, conferences and retreats.

MusicMinistry

Assisting the pastor in presenting the Word of God through music.

Our mission is to evangelize through music and reveal God's plan of salvation. The work of this ministry is to provide musical experiences in congregational services, develop musical skills, attitudes, and understanding. We want to witness and minister through music. Our music ministry consists of several choirs: MSMBC Ezekiel Pettway Praise Team, New Season, I.L. Forbes Inspirational Singers & Tender Golden Voices, J.H. Rose Voices of Faith, and Male Chorus Voices of Thunder.

UsherBoard

Helping worshippers with a warm and friendly welcome.

Those involved with this work greet worshippers with a warm welcome and friendly smile when they come into the sanctuary. As doorkeepers, ushers serve the pastor and congregation by assuring that the members and guests are comfortable and that order is kept at all times during the services. There are several usher boards: Male Usher Board, Usher Board #2, Mary Caswell Usher Board, and Youth Usher Board.

PraiseDancers

Praising God and leading the chruch in worship through dance.

We have several groups who are involved in showing our praise to God through expressive movement. These include the Daughters and Sons of Judah and Young Adult Praise Dancers.

SundaySchool

Teaching the members about the Word of God.

The Sunday school exists as a major part of the overall Christian education program of the church. It is the responsibility of the Sunday School to equip men and women for the work of the ministry and for the edifying of the body of Christ through systematic Bible study.

AudioMinistry

Helping those who cannot make services to hear the Word.

The primary purpose of this ministry is to help provide a means by which the sick and shut-in can have access and hear the weekly worship service by audio recording.

CovenantMarriage

Helping to encourage the married members of the congregation.

Maggie Street Baptist Church wants to assist the married members of the congregation to continue growing with each other and with God. We work to assist them in understanding the Biblical role of marriage and how this continues to relate to our daily lives. We seek to build self-esteem and confidence in them by showing them how God has created them in His image. We also encourage the married members to continue in prayer and intercession and also to serve others within the married community using the mission of Maggie Street as their help and guide.

DeaconMinistry

Serving Maggie Street and helping with the needs of the congregation.

The office of a deacon is a scriptural office based primarily on Acts 6. This ministry exists to assist the pastor in ministering to the spiritual and physical needs of the congregation.

LeadershipMinistry

Shining the light by leading in a Godly way.

Every team member can be inspired to new horizons by observing and following the devoted actions of a godly leader. A true leader has a contagious spirit. If you spend time around them, you will either like them or despise them. We must strive to put the “lead” back in leadership. This ministry seeks to instill leadership in Christians since it is the way to take people somewhere instead of keeping them somewhere.

MatronsMinistry

Encouraging the young women of the congregation.

The purpose of this ministry is to unite the young women of the church and to encourage their regular participation in the missionary program and train them in systematic Bible study.

NewcomersMinistry

Helping the new members feel at home.

The purpose of the new member’s orientation course is threefold: (1) It gives the new member a clear understanding of the significance of the new life in Christ, (2) It explains the responsibilities inherited because of the Christian experience, and (3) It defines what it means to become a member of God’s church. By using God’s word as the authority, the new member orientation seeks to emphasize the distinction between a true conversion and church membership.

NursesGuild

Assisting with emergency medical needs.

This guild exists to serve the congregation’s emergency medical needs. They also serve the congregation at the 10:45 a.m. service and at funerals.
