Worship
Sunday is the hinge of the week. We gather to sing, to pray, and to sit under the preached Word — not as an audience, but as a congregation with something at stake.
About Maggie Street
Maggie Street Missionary Baptist Church is a Christ-centered congregation in Montgomery, Alabama, ordering its life around four things: worship, discipleship, ministry, and community.
Our Mission
Our mission is to honor God, serve others, and make a difference in the lives of those we encounter.
Pastor Ezekiel Pettway, Sr.
That sentence is not decoration. It is the measure we hold our calendar, our budget, and our ministries against. If a thing does not honor God, serve people, or make a difference in someone's life, it does not stay on the schedule for long.
The result is a church where the door is genuinely open — to the lifelong member, to the visitor who slipped in during the second hymn, and to the neighbor who has never been to a service in their life.
Sunday is the hinge of the week. We gather to sing, to pray, and to sit under the preached Word — not as an audience, but as a congregation with something at stake.
Sunday School and Wednesday Bible Study exist so that faith is understood, not merely felt. We teach Scripture plainly and expect it to change how we live.
Every member has something to give. Our ministries put those gifts to work — in the choir loft, at the door, in the classroom, and on the doorstep of a neighbor.
Maggie Street has stood in this neighborhood for generations. We mean to be good for it: feeding, visiting, tutoring, and showing up when families need us.

Our Calling
What We Believe
We hold the historic convictions of Missionary Baptist churches. These are stated briefly here; the Pastor and ministers are glad to talk through any of them at length.
The Bible is the inspired Word of God, the true center of Christian union and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and opinions are to be tried.
There is one living and true God, revealed in three persons — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — equal in every divine perfection.
Salvation is the free gift of God, received through repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, whose death and resurrection secured it.
Baptism by immersion is the believer's public confession of faith. The Lord's Supper is observed in remembrance of Christ until He comes.
A local church is a congregation of baptized believers, governed by the Word, ordering its own affairs, and sent into the world to make disciples.
Jesus Christ will return in glory. The dead will be raised, and the righteous will dwell with Him forever.
Pastoral Leadership
Senior Pastor
Ezekiel Pettway, Sr. is a native of Wilcox County, Alabama, and was educated in its school system. Pastor Pettway is a man of many callings. In 1979 he answered the call to protect and serve his fellow countrymen through his service in the United States Armed Forces — eleven years in all, eight in the Army and three in the Army National Guard. During that service to his country, he was called to minister the Gospel of Jesus Christ in 1984.
First Lady, Minister
Pamela D. Pettway is the former Pamela Jameson of Joplin, Missouri. She spent three years in the U.S. Army and met Ezekiel while in Germany. They were married in 1982 in Fontana, California, and in 1987 they moved to Selma, Alabama. She was ordained as a minister by Bishop Richard B. Peoples in 2002. She stands alongside her husband as they proclaim the Word of God at Maggie Street, and is co-chair of the Women's Ministry along with Sis. Maggie Howard.

Who We Are
Our mission is to take the whole gospel to the whole city. To be a loving, caring, and sharing church with Christ as our model. To train, evangelize, and make disciples of men. To be expressive with our Praise, and to worship Christ the Savior in Spirit and in Truth. And to minister to the whole Man, Body, Soul, and Spirit!
One Gospel. One City. One Purpose.
